Official Rules



These Official Rules (“Rules”) govern the operation of the Microsoft Mixer Matchups - Race to E3 Contest (“Contest”). The Contest consists of Microsoft Corporation, One Microsoft Way, Redmond, WA, 98052, USA, is the Contest sponsor (“Sponsor”).


In these Rules, "Microsoft", "we", "our", and "us" refer to Sponsor and “you” and "yourself" refers to a Contest participant, or the parent/legal guardian of any minor Contest entrant. By entering you (your parent/legal guardian if you are a minor) agree to be bound by these rules.


The Contest starts at 12:01 a.m. Pacific Time (PT) on May 8th, and ends at 10:00 p.m. PT on June 2nd (“Contest Period”). The Entry Period consists of a pre-registration period from 12:01 a.m. PT on May 8 – 9 am on May 12, 2019 (“Pre-Registration Period”) and a game play period from 10 a.m. PT on May 13 – 10 p.m. PT on June 2 (“Game Play Period”). The Game Play Period for each game title (each a “Tournament”) is described in the Prize chart below in Winner Selection Notification.

You may register at any time during the Contest Period, however, your score on the Contest leaderboard for each individual Tournament will only count during its respective Tournament Game Play Period.


To enter, you must be a legal resident of a country supported by the platform and be 18 years of age or older. Minors who have not reached the age of majority in their place of residence must have consent of a parent or legal guardian.

The Overall Prize, a travel trip to E3, is only available to be won by entrants residing within the 50 United States (+D.C.). Cash prizes are only available to be won by entrants residing in countries using the following currencies (“Qualifying Countries”): US Dollar, British Pounds, Euros, or Canadian Dollars. Ember prizes may be won by Entrants in any country, save for those countries, regions or areas where the Contest is void.

Employees and directors of Microsoft Corporation and its subsidiaries, affiliates, advertising agencies, and Contest Parties are not eligible, nor are persons involved in the execution or administration of this promotion, or the family members of each above (parents, children, siblings, spouse/domestic partners, or individuals residing in the same household). Void in Cuba, Iran, North Korea, Quebec, Sudan, Syria, Region of Crimea, and where prohibited.


The Contest consists of scores from three (3) individual game leaderboards; League of Legends, Halo 5: Guardians, and Paladins: Champions of the Realm (each a “Tournament”), and the overall Contest leaderboard which is an aggregate of the Tournament scores. Some game titles are free to play, and some require you to have access to the game title to play, and some may require access to specific gaming consoles to play, however no proof of purchase is required to play.

Then during each Tournament Period, login to Mixer to start your broadcast and then begin playing the respective game during its respective Gameplay Period. All Tournament Gameplay is subject to the Rules of User Conduct, available at .

At the conclusion of each game you play during the Tournament Game Play Period, your score will be posted on the Tournament leaderboard, and those points will also be aggregated on the Contest leaderboard. Each week, the top 50 people on a given leaderboard will receive points towards the overall leaderboard. The point structure is found here:

You may play the Tournament game titles as many times as you like during the Game Play Period to improve your score / leaderboard standing. However, you may only compete in the Contest under a single account / identity. Any attempt by any you to obtain more than the stated number of entries by using multiple/different accounts, identities, registrations, logins, or any other methods will void all of your entries and you may be disqualified. Use of any automated system to participate is prohibited.

We are not responsible for excess, lost, late, or incomplete entries. If disputed, entries will be deemed submitted by the “authorized account holder” of the email address, social media account, or other method used to enter. The “authorized account holder” is the natural person assigned to an email address by an internet or online service provider, or other organization responsible for assigning email addresses.


At the close of each Tournament Period and the Entry Period, potential prize winners will be identified by Microsoft or their Agent or based on their scores on the Game leaderboard as follows:

In the event of a tie between any eligible entries, the winner will be the player who reached the qualifying score first. For more details on point structure see The decisions of the judges are final and binding. If we do not receive a sufficient number of entries meeting the entry requirements, we may, at our discretion, select fewer winners than the number of Contest Prizes advertised.

Winners will be notified via the contact information provided during entry no more than 14 days following judging with prize claim instructions, including submission deadlines. If a selected winner cannot be contacted, is ineligible, fails to claim a prize or fails to return any forms, the selected winner will forfeit their prize and an alternate winner will be selected time allowing. Only three alternate winners will be selected, after which unclaimed prizes will remain unawarded. If you are a potential winner or guest but have not reached the age of majority in your place of legal residence, we may require your parent or legal guardian to sign all required forms on your behalf.

Cash Prizes will only be available to winners who reside with a country using one of the following currencies (“Qualifying Countries”) determined by number of ranked wins: British Pounds, Euros, Canadian Dollars, or US Dollar. All Weekly Prizes will be e-mailed to the Weekly Prize winners without any advance notification. Cash prize paid in the form of a cheque or digital cash card from Sponsor based on the US currency exchange rate on the date the prize is issued.

All prize values are stated in US dollars. The ARV of prizes is subject to price fluctuations in the consumer marketplace based on, among other things, any gap in time between the date the ARV is estimated for purposes of these Official Rules and the date the prize is awarded or redeemed. We will determine the value of the prize to be the fair market value at the time of prize award.

Trip prize is for qualified players and their guest who reside in the 50 U.S. (+ D.C.) only. Trip includes round trip, coach-class air transportation for winner and guest from a major airport near winner’s home to Los Angeles, CA, five nights' double-occupancy (2 people, 1 room) hotel accommodations at a hotel determined by Sponsor, and for winner only, one (1) ticket to attend the Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3), a US $800 travel allowance, one (1) ticket to the Microsoft E3 2019 Briefing, one (1) ticket to the Xbox FanFest 2019 and the opportunity to compete in the E3 Finale at the Mixer Dome. Winner and guest must travel on the same itinerary and travel must be taken on dates specified by Sponsor or forfeited. Travel and accommodations are subject to availability and blackout dates. All expenses and travel costs not expressly stated, including but not limited to, ground transportation, meals, incidentals, gratuities, passenger tariffs or duties, airline fees, surcharges, airport fees, service charges or facility charges, personal charges at lodging, security fees, taxes or other expenses are the responsibility solely of winner and guest. Winner is solely responsible for obtaining valid travel documents. Travel restrictions, conditions and limitations may apply. Travel companion must be eighteen (18) years of age or older as of the date of departure, and must execute liability/publicity releases prior to issuance of travel documents. If the winner lives within 300 miles of Los Angeles, CA, ground transportation will be substituted for round trip air travel at Sponsor’s sole discretion. Sponsor is not responsible if E3 is delayed, postponed or cancelled for any reason, in which event that portion of prize is forfeited in its entirety and no substitution will be provided except as in Sponsor’s sole discretion.

The total Approximate Retail Value (ARV) of all prizes: US$142,940

We will only award one prize per person per category per Tournament. No more than the stated number of prizes will be awarded. No substitution, transfer, or assignment of prize permitted, except that Microsoft reserves the right to substitute a prize of equal or greater value in the event the offered prize is unavailable. Prizes are awarded “AS IS” with no warranty of any kind, either express or implied, including but not limited to, the implied warranties or merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement. Prizes will be sent no later than 28 days after winner selection. Prize winners may be required to complete and return prize claim and / or tax forms (“Forms”) within the deadline stated in the winner notification. Taxes on the prize, if any, are the sole responsibility of the winner, who is advised to seek independent counsel regarding the tax implications of accepting a prize. By accepting a prize, you agree that Microsoft may use your entry, name, image and hometown online and in print, or in any other media, in connection with this Contest without payment or compensation to you, except where prohibited by law.


The odds of winning are based on the number and skill of eligible entries received.


To the extent allowed by law, by entering you agree to release and hold harmless Microsoft and its respective parents, partners, subsidiaries, affiliates, employees, and agents from any and all liability or any injury, loss, or damage of any kind arising in connection with this Contest or any prize won.

All local laws apply. The decisions of Microsoft are final and binding.

We reserve the right to cancel, change, or suspend this Contest for any reason, including cheating, technology failure, catastrophe, war, or any other unforeseen or unexpected event that affects the integrity of this Contest, whether human or mechanical. If the integrity of the Contest cannot be restored, we may select winners from among all eligible entries received before we had to cancel, change or suspend the Contest.

If you attempt or we have strong reason to believe that you have compromised the integrity or the legitimate operation of this Contest by cheating, hacking, creating a bot or other automated program, or by committing fraud in any way, we may seek damages from you to the full extent of the law and you may be banned from participation in future Microsoft promotions.

Any gameplay that is not in the spirit of fair competition and/or aimed at exploiting games systems is prohibited, and ineligible for points in the competition. For instance, intentionally ignoring capture points in order to not start the Match Timer is not allowed. If games are identified that abuse this in conjunction with spawn-camping in an egregious manner those games will not have their Kills counted.


Personal data you provide while entering this Contest will be used by Microsoft and/or its agents and prize fulfillers acting on Microsoft’s behalf only for the administration and operation of this Contest and in accordance with the Microsoft Privacy Statement.


This Contest will be governed by the laws of the State of Washington, and you consent to the exclusive jurisdiction and venue of the courts of the State of Washington for any disputes arising out of this Contest.
